Robin Rubendunst, soprano

Robin Rubendunst, soprano, has demonstrated her versatility and ability to take on a challenge, singing diverse roles including Ariadne in Richard Strauss’ Ariadne auf Naxos, Sieglinde in Richard Wagner’s Die Walküre. Marguerite in Gounod’s Faust in New York, and Mozart’s Donna Anna (Don Giovanni) and Puccini’s Musetta (La Bohème). Robin has appeared with Sarasota Opera, The Opera Company of Boston and sang a “captivating” Hanna Glawari in Hudson Opera Theatre’s production of The Merry Widow.  In the title role of Marenka in The Bartered Bride with Bronx Opera, Ms. Rubendunst was described by one New York critic as “an artist of international caliber,” adding that “Her full-throated lyric sound and assured high notes were pleasurable to the ear, as her demeanor was to the eye.” Ms. Rubendunst’s collaboration with the Polish Theatre Institute began with their production of Stanislaw Moniuszko’s seldom heard in America opera, Halka, which was presented to much critical acclaim at The Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, D.C., the Sylvia and Danny Kaye Playhouse in New York City, and numerous venues in Warsaw and Kracow, Poland. Most recently, she appeared in concert in NYC in a recital featuring the complete songs of Ignaz Paderewski, and in Grosse Pointe, Michigan in recitals of songs and arias by Richard Strauss and then returned to Michigan to sing her first Sieglinde in a concert presentation of Wagner’s Die Walküre.  Previously, with Hudson Opera Theatre, she has been heard as the soprano soloist in the Mozart Requiem, and in the title role of HOT’s 2012 production of Aïda.
