Zack Rabin, bass-baritone

 

American bass-baritone Zack Rabin is excited to make his last-minute debut with Hudson Opera Theater singing Frank in Die Fledermaus.  Mr. Rabin recently returned from Tulsa Opera, where he performed Abimelech and covered Old Hebrew in Samson et Delila. He recently debuted with State Repertory Opera in New Jersey, performing Bartolo in Le Nozze di Figaro. Mr. Rabin also recently sang the bass solos in Verdi Requiem with Reformed Church Bronxville and New Jersey Oratorio Society. He sang the bass solo in Messiah on last minute notice with NJ Oratorio Society this past Christmas. Furhtermore, this season he sang Ben in Regina for Bronx Opera in January and recently returned from Utah Festival Opera and Musical Theatre where he performed David Bascombe in Carousel, Customs Sergeant in La Bohème, Juan in Man of La Mancha, and covered Alcindoro/Benoit in La Bohème while covering Governor/Innkeeper in Man of La Mancha. Mr. Rabin also returned to Natchez Festival of Music for the fourth time, singing the Policeman chorus in Pirates of Penzanze and covering Bonze in Madama Butterfly. Zack has sung a variety of repertoire in the 2015-16 season including Angelotti in Tosca with Mississippi Opera, Il Re in Ariodante with Dramma per musica in NYC, Pandolph in Cendrillon with Bel Cantanti Opera in Washington D.C., Simone in Gianni Schicchi with Festival Internationales de Belle-Ille in France, Dick Deadeye in HMS Pinafore, Angelotti in Tosca in Natchez. In 2014-2015, Mr. Rabin sang Leporello in Don Giovanni, Capitan in Florencia en el Amazones, and Prophet/King in Dark Sisters with BU Opera Institute. Mr. Rabin was also a semi-finalist in the Shreveport Opera singer of the year competition March of 2015. Zack has been heard with Boston Masterworks Chorale, Virginia Consort and Atlantic Symphony as the bass soloist in Mozart Requiem, and Ash Lawn Opera covering Colline in La Bohème. Mr. Rabin has also recently sung Marchese in La Traviata, Spencer Coyle in Owen Wingrave, and Publio in La Clemenza di Tito with BU Opera Institute, where he was a resident artist for two seasons. He was recently heard with Boston Masterworks Chorale as Barone in La Traviata,Winter Opera St. Louis as Truffaldino in Ariadne auf Naxos, and St. Petersburg Opera as Bartolo in Le Nozze di Figaro. Mr. Rabin has been heard with Chautauqua Opera, Sarasota Opera, Opera New Jersey, Ohio Light Opera, Lyric Opera of Virginia, Farmhouse Window Productions, New York Lyric Opera at Carnegie Hall, IIVA in Italy, IVAI in Israel, Bel Canto Northwest, and the Astoria Music Festival. Mr. Rabin will sing the bass solo in Verdi Requiem with Symphony of the Mountains in Kingsport, Tennessee, and return to Winter Opera St. Louis to sing Don Magnifico in La Cenerentola for 2017. He is thrilled to be taking his first summer off from singing in thirteen seasons, and welcome the birth of his first son, Derin George Rabin.
